The name of this old mine gives us a sense of the desperation of the miners who worked it, as most older mining techniques did not result in finding anything of commercial value. There are three entrances to the mine at different levels; each has a large pile of rock and dirt, which was removed by hand in an effort to strike it rich. Working conditions must have been extremely difficult without any of the modern tools and lighting equipment. And in the summer heat which often gets over 115 degrees in the daytime and only 90’s in the night. Both traces of copper and uranium were found, but not in sufficient quantities to make it viable as a commercial operation,
