This miniature scene is in the Blue Mountains of Australia; the bright red of the mushroom heads stand out sharply against the mulch created by decaying leaves. This particular variety is one of the psychedelic varieties, with some collecting them for a soup mix, but it is highly recommended to leave them to brighten the countryside. The side effects of eating them even if cooked according to local recipes are still risky. Their name gives a clue to a warning not posted on each plant, it is called the Death Cap Mushroom, and its red cap seems to flash danger, yet in its place it brightens the woods.
