In the early morning light I observed a mother duck with her brood preparing for the day. She took a long time to persuade her chicks to go down to the water for their first swim. As with most families, one little duck was resistant to all efforts to take the plunge. In a final desperate move the mother and other chicks started to swim away, realizing that it was being left alone, the rebel chick started a frantic dash to catch up with the family, in the effort the chick becomes a blur of activity.
