The Devils Cornfield is surrounded with locations with names like, Furnace Creek, Funeral Peak, Last Chance Mountain and Badwater you can be certain you are in one of the most inhospitable regions in the world. You are in Death Valley California, this is one of the hottest places on earth along with the Middle Eastern and Australian desert regions. The highest temperature was recorded in the Sahara desert on Sept. 13, 1922, when a weather station recorded 136 degrees Fahrenheit (58 degrees Celsius). No place for humans, but even then there are warning signs to discourage hikers from hiking in Death Valley, if the temperature is over 110 degrees F (43.3 Celsius).
