This view over an area known as Yellowstone Wash is from a mesa at the northern end of the location. As we travel to this location we pass working ranches and some old abandoned buildings, long left vacant as their occupants moved to more hospitable places. The mountains in the distance stand along the Grand Canyon, which marks the path of the Colorado River, as it flows down to the lower elevations. There are numerous dry creek beds along the wash area, only having water for a few hours during the monsoon rain periods, then drying up for the remainder of the year.
