Description

This is an unusual phenomenon, most natural depressions are formed in valleys, but this one has been carved by wind on the top of a rock plateau. Some locals know it as the “Cowboy Potty” it is in a Navajo rock formation sandwiched between two volcanic rock flows. The two small pyramid cones to the right are known as the “Camel Back” and can bee seen from a long way off. The bottom is between 50 and 60 feet, and for the adventuresome, it can be climbed if you select the correct route. Over 100 people have carved their names in the bottom, with all but the oldest still legible. This is an example of the power of wind and sand over many years.
