This canyon is typical of many in the high desert areas. It has been cut over the years by the seasonal streams, which are the result of heavy rains, which pound the desert every few years. It is not unusual for these areas to have little or no rainfall for 10- 15 years; but when it rains it is wise to be far from these areas, as flash floods are very common during periods of rainfall. Trees grow along the waterway, as this is the only source of moisture they can find. You can see the large number of rock strata’s as the water has carved the stream deeper into the canyon.
