East Zions Canyon 28 x 20

This photograph was taken from the Canyon Overlook at the east entrance of Zion National Park. We see in the valley below with the Zion to Mt. Carmel highway climbing up to the tunnel, which takes travellers to the entrance. It is above a formation called the Great Arch; which is a prominent feature, which can be seen as we progress up the road to the tunnel. Many of the most iconic images of Zion are along this route, but many are in areas where car parking is difficult or illegal. The only way to get up close to many of these is from long and sometimes strenuous hiking along the multitude of trails in the area. With the elevation and extreme heat or cold experienced in this location it is a challenge for all but the most able-bodied hiker.
