On their northerly migration to Canada in the spring, these geese have found an ideal resting place. The sandbar is an island of its own, so there is protection from most predators while they rest and gain strength for the remainder of the trip. Food is also abundant here, so it becomes a favorite spot for the flocks as they fly north to nest and bring up another brood of geese. This will also be a spot to rest in the fall when they fly south again to escape the harsh winters cold.
