This Overlook has a 3,000 feet vertical drop into the Grand Canyon, it has experienced relatively recently volcanic activity, lava flows and cinder cones make this area a distinctive place. The famous western explorer John Wesley Powell named this mountain after the Illinois Senator John A Logan. In the western slopes there is a large eroded amphitheater known as Hell Hole, this description should give the traveller an idea of the kind of terrain they will be experiencing.
