We see here an example of the erosive nature of wind and rain. Although this is now a reasonably deep cutting in the rocks, we can see by looking at each side, that the layers in the rock show it once was a continuous series of layers. For whatever reason the patterns of the erosive mechanism has concentrated along the area and worn out a small valley in the rocks. There are many examples of this type of selective erosion in the desert and canyons in this neighborhood.
