Horseshoe On the Colorado 54 x 24

In this image we see the Colorado River, making large turn and almost joining up with itself as it wends its way down from this high location in the Utah Desert. Over the years it has cut into the softer rocks to make a twisted course, as it travels across the landscape on its way to the sea. During this process it has exposed a number of different sedimentary layers, which displays all the colors of the chemicals within the layers. Almost all of plant life can be seen along a narrow strip by the riverbanks.
